Photovoltaic technology provides the opportunity to transform solar energy into electric energy via the surfaces of solar panels. The solar canopy

It is usually a single-pitch structure, made from aluminium or laminated wood. The orientation and size of the solar panels are necessary elements to ensure efficient operation and optimal electricity yield.

They are mainly used in car parks, serving primarily as a shelter for cars. These awnings are becoming increasingly popular among private individuals and companies, and offer the following main benefits: environmental impact, savings for companies, and the opportunity to cover wide areas.

Required permits

Cemi Energy supports the client in applying for building permits to carry out the construction works associated with installing solar canopies.

Before constructing a solar canopy, the municipal department must be contacted to check the applicable regulations. In particular, there is an important distinction to be made: while the simple installation of solar panels on a pre-existing canopy may be performed independently, building an entire solar canopy from scratch requires application for the relevant permits.

In the latter case, consultation and support from a specialised technician is required to obtain all the relevant structural and regulatory information: works can only begin following approval of the project by the relevant municipal technical department.
