Biogas

Biogas and Biomethane

Biogas is a mix of various types of gas, primarily methane and carbon dioxide, produced through bacterial fermentation of organic plant or animal residues under anaerobic conditions (absence of oxygen).

Biomethane is a combustible gas derived from biogas, obtained by removing carbon dioxide from the latter through purification or upgrading. Biogas and biomethane plants are often constructed in the agricultural, zootechnic and industrial sectors.

Bacterial fermentation under anaerobic conditions occurs through use of anaerobic digesters, consisting of circular tanks mainly constructed using special biogas formworks without bore holes.

The digestate (digested product produced in the anaerobic digesters) is also subsequently decanted into open storage tanks, mainly constructed using special biogas formworks without bore holes.

Cemi Energy performs all the supporting construction works required for biogas and biomethane plants.
